Wilderness trips, 2009

Nick and I have been working on some wilderness meditations- some of which are on the aoradh website- here. We would very much appreciate some folk who are willing to be our guinea pigs (or should I say, Red Squirrels) as we give them a wider road test.

As part of this, a few of us are planning a trip to a small uninhabited island on the bank holiday that begins Friday the 1st of May. We have not finally decided the venue for this yet- there are a couple of possibles, and it rather depends on transport.

Dates for other events are as follows;

16th May (Family weekend??)

20th June

18th July

19th September

24th October

Welcome to Aoradh!

Aoradh (meaning ‘adoration’) is a Christian arts group based in Dunoon, Argyll. Members of our group come from many different traditions and church backgrounds, and we greatly value the creativity and diversity that this brings to our experience.

Our practices arise from our experience of community. Out of this common ground, we seek to create spaces and events that enable us to worship and to celebrate our faith. This is no exclusive group however, and we are always open to meeting and working with others.

Aoradh seeks to work with (and serve) others whenever we can. In doing this, we offer our worship.

We invite you to share the warmth of our fireside.

Some of our recent events include;

                                       beach_clean_1.jpg

  • ‘Lies Damned Lies’ living room gig.
  • Poetry reading in a local pub.
  • Yvonne Lyon gig.
  • American Baptist Chorale visit.
  • Aids awareness vigil.

We also run other less formal events- growing from the life of our small community.

  CHRIS'S LATEST BOOK!

‘Listing’ is a collection of poetry and meditations mostly inspired by some of those great lists in the Bible- the fruit of the Spirit, the Beatitudes, the ‘love’ passage in Corinthians and the ’seasons’ passage in Ecclesiastes 3.

It is published by Proost- and available by clicking here.

Here is the Proost blurb from Jonny Baker;

Listing is a little gem, a surprise that came Proost’s way over the horizon from Chris Goan. He loves crafting words, playing with words, chewing over words, creating and re-creating worlds with words. His poems and meditations are a delight, spinning off from and opening up new takes on familiar verses of ancient wisdom from the scriptures. It’s the second book from Chris on proost. The first is the wonderful meditation he wrote to go along with Si Smith’s images of Christ’s journey into the wilderness ‘40’. The books is available as both hard copy or to download as pdf.
